TREnD is a non-profit symposium organized by trainees and will attract top-level RNA researchers from all across Southern Ontario and into the United States. It would be a great opportunity for companies that wish to advertise or promote tools that can help advance RNA research.
If you are interested in providing sponsorship, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions. All sponsors will have their logos prominently displayed throughout the symposium and on the website. We will also be providing booths to showcase any technology and reagents.
We would really like to thank our past sponsors for their support. TREnD 2018 would not be possible without their kind donations.

The second annual Toronto RNA Enthusiasts Day (TREnD) will take place on August 2nd at the SickKids Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (686 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5G 0A4).

There is an abundance of outstanding RNA research across a broad variety of disciplines in the Greater Toronto Area, but there is also a need to increase communication to: share ideas and state-of the-art technologies, build cross-disciplinary collaborations, and encompass a greater number of scientists in our scientific network. Our symposium, TREnD2017, is a student-led and trainee-focused event that will bring together researchers of every level to share their research and scientific approaches.

We are proud to be a part of the Genetics Society of America’s Early Career Scientists Symposium Program.

We hope to provide an inspiring and lively day of RNA-related discussion across multiple model genetic systems and be an outstanding networking and scientific tool for our community. In particular, we aim to bring together a diverse group of scientists focused on classical genetics and novel high-throughput genomic approaches and spark exciting new collaborations.

Schedule of Events

TREnD will be held on July 30, 2019 at the SickKids Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (686 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5G 0A4), which has outstanding conference facilities and on-site catering.

We are in the midst of planning a full day packed with exciting talks and opportunities for discussion and feedback. An outline of the schedule will be provided in the near future.

There will be two sessions of 6 research talks, which will be selected from submitted abstracts. Each talk will be 12 minutes long with 3 minutes for questions.

Posters will be set up during the registration period, and two poster sessions will occur after lunch. Awards for oral and poster presentations will be presented during the afternoon coffee session.

Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentations:

Speakers will have 12 minutes to present, and 3 minutes for answering questions. If you are selected as an oral speaker, please load and test out your presentation before your session starts.

It is recommended that speakers keep in mind the broad audience when making their presentations.

Best oral presentation will be adjudicated by all attendees and an award will be presented during the afternoon coffee session.

Poster Presentations:

The poster size limit is 4 feet by 4 feet.

The two best poster presentations, as well as best undergraduate poster presentation, will be presented with awards during the afternoon coffee session.
